Maple Sugaring
In Vermont, the arrival of spring means it's time for maple sugaring season! Our state is known for its delicious, pure maple syrup and during this time, sugar houses of all sizes begin boiling down the sap from our Vermont maple trees. One special weekend, these sugar makers open their doors to visitors, offering a chance to learn about the process and taste their freshly made syrup. You won't want to miss the Maple Open House Weekend, where you can indulge all your senses with the sweetness of Vermont's finest maple syrup.
Farmers Market
This area is brimming with talented people, and you can discover many of them at our local farmers markets. You can find homemade bread, fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables, homemade soap, jam, dog treats, and more! The Dorset farmers market runs year-round on Sundays at the H.N. Williams General Store during the summer and at the J.K. Adams Kitchen Store during the winter. Additionally, the Manchester farmers market takes place in Adams park every Thursday from the week of Memorial Day through October. Don't miss out on all of Vermont's finest products!
Biking
When the ground begins to thaw head over to Battenkill Bicycles where you can rent a bike. Whether you are going off the beaten path or cruising through town, they are sure to have something for you. Take the most scenic route possible during your stay in Vermont.
The Falconry
If you're seeking a unique and unforgettable experience, consider visiting the Green Mountain Falconry School. This is an opportunity to learn how to handle and fly a trained hawk while taking a scenic walk as the hawk glides from tree to tree, waiting for your command to return to your glove. The activity is suitable for the entire family, and it's a chance to try something new.
The Falconry school operates from May 1st to October 31st.
